Cem and Cemre, the founders of Urbanwalks.ankara, in cooperation with Ka, are delighted to invite you to a new series of events.

"We will be discussing the urban spaces we have explored on foot, delving into the city's various historical layers, and examining its important actors and concepts. Together with our special guests, we will discover the built environment and its contributors, keeping you on the edge of your seats.

In our fifth talk, we will host Duygu Toprak. Through her work as a researcher, translator, editor, writer, and participant in collective production practices, we will explore inspiring examples of urban commons in national and international settings. By evaluating the practices of collective production and redistribution in this context, we will reflect on the possibility of plural and diverse urban environments.

Duygu Toprak is an independent researcher who focuses on collective place-making. Her most recent research project, Ortaklaşa, involved mapping urban commons in Turkey. She co-hosts a monthly podcast on inspiring cooperatives and communities. She holds a BCP from Middle East Technical University and an MSc from Utrecht University.

Cemre Gökpınar graduated from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Art History. He founded AnkaraAks, a social enterprise producing projects and activities in the field of creative industries in Ankara. His main academic interests include modern Turkish architecture in the 20th century, architectural theories of the Turkish Republican period, and urban-cultural studies based in Ankara. Moreover, he continues to work in the field of creative and cultural industries as a young entrepreneur by aiming to be involved in sustainable project processes.

Cem Dedekargınoğlu graduated from Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture. He has voluntarily participated in various student initiatives, non-governmental organizations, local/national events, and workshops, and worked in professional organizations and architectural design offices. In 2019, he received his master's degree from METU Faculty of Architecture, Architecture History Graduate Program. He continues his education as a PhD student at the same program, and since 2018, he has organized city walks in Ankara with Cemre Gökpınar."
