Peter Paul Rubens was a Flemish artist and diplomat who lived during the Dutch Golden Age. He is considered the most influential artist of the Flemish Baroque tradition. Rubens' compositions refer to classical and Christian history. His works on mythological and allegorical subjects give a real insight into the concerns and climate of his times.

Reading the Artist event aims to give a more holistic look at what artists produce. Selected artists are not judged solely by their work; Instead, we “read” them by considering their writings, drawings, and all the details about their lives, and also regarding the conditions of the period while they created their artistic works.
